Emily Burley
French Horn Tutor
Emily is a french horn player and teacher based in London. She completed her undergraduate at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama before studying her masters in Orchestra Performance at the Gothenburg Academy of Music and Drama in Sweden. Since returning to the UK, Emily enjoys a varied freelance career, including performances with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and Welsh Chamber Orchestra, and touring in many countries - most memorably China and India.
Emily comes from a musical family and began playing the French horn at 13 years old. She quickly came to love the instrument for its warm tone and heroic sound! Emily loves working creatively with other musicians and the process of bringing music to life, enjoying the camaraderie of working in an orchestra. She is passionate about sharing her enthusiasm for music through teaching, especially in bringing classical music to children of all backgrounds. Mahler’s Symphony no.1 is one of the pieces that inspired Emily to become a horn player so she is particularly excited to be coaching the ESO horns this year!
