
Neil Crossley
Woodwind Tutor
Neil is a professional musician who combines performing, teaching, directing and writing. He studied clarinet and saxophone at The University of Manchester and Royal Northern College of Music before moving to Hertfordshire, where he is now based.
He has performed with ensembles across the UK, including the BBC Concert Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Northern Chamber Orchestra, Manchester Concert Orchestra, National Musicians’ Symphony Orchestra and Apollo Saxophone Orchestra. Neil also works as a woodwind multi-instrumentalist, performing regularly in London’s West End. He has played on over 40 shows; recent shows as chair holder include ‘Frozen’ (Drury Lane) and ‘Kinky Boots’ (Adelphi).
Neil is Head of Woodwind at Dame Alice Owen’s School, Hertfordshire and Woodwind Multi-Instrument tutor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He is passionate about music education at all levels and has directed courses for the National Youth Wind Orchestra and Benslow Music, and adjudicated for Pro Corda Chamber Music Festival, Junior Guildhall and Abertawe Festival for Young Musicians. He has also written articles for Music Teacher and CASS magazines, amongst others. He has been a tutor with ESO since 2015.
